Restorative Leadership Retreat for Women
– Pause. Restore. Return.

November 7th-9th 2024

‘Do not try to save the whole world or do anything grandiose, instead, create a clearing in the dense forest of your life.’
Martha Postlethwaite

Whatever the balance in your life between space and busyness, join us as we gather in the New Forest to pause and slow the pace of the frenetic life we live in.

We inevitably live our lives at pace. Rarely do we put ourselves first and give ourselves permission to be our own sanctuary. Under pressure, our survival instincts kick in, and we do what we have always done: rely on our winning formula (our learned ways of behaving) assuming that what has got us here, will get us there. Yet, the drain on our energy of performing at work, and dealing with the constant change in the world is exhausting.

It is time to pause.

Join us as we connect with nature. Between the sea and forest, we will cultivate stillness enabling us to step back, and reflect. We will develop our self-awareness through storytelling, mindful practices, yoga, embodiment, coaching and creativity. You will gain a deeper understanding of your life narrative and discover practices that will resource you and support you to expand your capacity and your resilience. You’ll return home feeling refreshed, reinvigorated and alive.

Who is this retreat for?

We want to create a unique gathering for professional women. It can be tough juggling so much, and our intention is to co-create a community of women who can be a safe harbour for themselves and each other.

This retreat is for you if:

Your career and personal life demand a lot of your energy, leaving little space for you.

You have experienced a change in role, or life stage and feel disconnected with what is most important

You feel overwhelmed, stressed and unsure how to support yourself and your wellbeing

What triggers the need to pause and restore?

Your sense of well-being may be impacted; you may notice you are feeling irritable, tired, juggling a high workload, experiencing feelings of anxiety, frustration and a sense of feeling stuck or lost.

A change in your life may have thrown up some unexpected emotions and challenges that you are trying to make sense of

You experience a sense of unease frequently as more and more is demanded of you and you feel ‘on edge’

What will you get out of the retreat?

You will come away with a renewed sense of self-awareness and understanding.

This is a coaching-led retreat, so expect to be encouraged to reflect and explore what makes you who you are, and to consider who you want to become.

You’ll be introduced to some theoretical concepts and invited to use movement, breath, visualisation and journalling to discover how you might choose to show up differently in the world, feeling resourced and at ease.

Our journey together:

Part 1 –  Friday 4th October 10am
Meeting

We will come together one month before the start of the retreat to connect, and begin to get to know one another

We will agree how we want to work together so that we are ready when we convene on 7th November.

Part 2 – Thursday 7th November from 2pm
Pause

To begin with, we will pause and reflect on where we have come from and how we see ourselves

By sharing stories, we will explore who we are at our best; surfacing our values and our strengths

Using a coaching technique, you’ll learn to deeply listen to each other and share your insights

As we end for the evening, we’ll introduce some embodied practices to deepen your learning

Part 3 – Friday 8th November
Restore

In the morning we’ll reflect on what pushes us into overwhelm, disconnection and exhaustion.

Using real life examples, we’ll support each other to surface what happens and to notice what we experience in those moments.

Drawing on poly vagal theory we’ll introduce some key concepts about our nervous system and explore ways in which we can use this knowledge to support ourselves to feel more resourced, grounded and connected.

In the afternoon we’ll deepen our learning through yoga before experimenting with creativity as we explore different restorative practices.

Part 4 – Saturday 9th November
Return

As we prepare to end our journey together, we’ll use a visualisation to help bring clarity about what we want to take forward and bring back into our daily life

We’ll support each other to focus on what is most important to us and what we want to commit to as we focus on how we can be more at ease and resource ourselves to withstand the demands of our busy lives

We’ll consider how this new way of being feels in an embodied way and use reflective activities to capture our learning.

Before we depart, we’ll pause to appreciate our time together and what we have witnessed in each other.
